Cetirizine will not stop hives or avoid/deal with a serious allergic response (for instance anaphylaxis). When your medical doctor has prescribed epinephrine to take care of allergic reactions, generally carry your epinephrine injector with you. Do not use cetirizine instead of your epinephrine.
